when the loop starts to spiral

Painting installation, oil on raw canvas, 2024, 500 × 150 cm, and a series of participatory actions focused on divination practices taking place within the installation.

"when the loop starts to spiral" and the accompanying divination sessions focus on communal rituals, care, and the everyday lives of young women, drawing on physical exercises and collective agency. The painting is divided into five parts, each focusing on different exercises for specific body parts, combining them with symbolism related to girlhood, Polish history, and metabolic transformations. Within the installation, workshops and divination sessions inspired by feminist theories of new materialism took place, using herbalism as a medium of knowledge. During the workshops, food and plants were treated not only as symbols but also as participants in the participatory events. For participants in the divination sessions, card, worksheet templates were prepared and passed from hand to hand, allowing everyone to contribute and receive a collective divination based on the shapes of herbs. The work was presented during the group exhibition Testing, Testing, Testing, Kulturhuset Bergsjön, Gothenburg, Sweden / May 2024.
